When Should You Call a Home Stager? Earlier Than You Think!

We usually hear this from sellers we’ve visited the week of their listing, and delivered the unfortunate laundry list of all the decluttering, rearranging and maintenance (like painting, cleaning and more) we recommend. We know it can definitely feel overwhelming! Sometimes there just isn't the time to get it all done — it's stressful and rarely produces the best result.
So when is the right time to call a home stager? The honest answer is: earlier than you think.
Before you do anything to the house
…this is the sweet spot we love most. If you're thinking about listing in three to six months and you're considering repairs, updates, or a fresh coat of paint, call us first. We can save you from spending money on things that won't move the needle with buyers — and point you toward the improvements that will. We've walked into homes where owners had already spent thousands on upgrades buyers wouldn't notice, and skipped the things that actually would have helped. A one-hour staging consultation before any work begins can redirect that budget meaningfully.
Still living in the home?
For occupied stagings, we work with what you already have to create the best possible first impression: better flow from room to room, continuity of color and style throughout, and — most important — we highlight the features and function of each space that buyers are actually there to see. Room by room, we'll tell you exactly what to edit, rearrange, store, or add.
When the listing date is set
If you already have a date on the calendar, call us as soon as you can — the more lead time we have, the better the result.
For an install of our Essentials™package, seven days is typically all we need — which means when a listing date lands sooner than planned, we can still make it happen.
Custom Staging works a little differently — a full installation usually happens in a single day, but the planning, sourcing, and scheduling behind it happens in the weeks before. The more lead time we have, the more options we can bring to the table.
When the house isn't selling
